How SASSA sets payment dates each month
SASSA announces payment dates through an official media statement at the start of each year. Dates are set on the first two to three working days of each month. The Older Persons Grant always pays first, followed by Disability, then Children's grants a day later.
If a scheduled date falls on a South African public holiday, SASSA moves the payment to the next working day. For December 2026, the December 16 (Day of Reconciliation) and December 25–26 (Christmas/Boxing Day) holidays do not affect payment dates because payments happen on 2–4 December, well before the holiday period.

Why does the SRD grant not have a fixed date?
SASSA pays SRD grants in ID-number batches. Each batch releases on a different day within the window. This spreads the load across bank payment systems and Post Office channels. Once your status shows approved, the portal displays your specific batch date.
If your status is still pending, your payment date will not show yet. Wait for the status to move to approved, then check again. Do not call SASSA to ask for your date before the status updates — agents cannot override the batch system.

How to Find Your Exact Payment Date
You find your exact SASSA payment date by checking your status on the official portal. Here is how:
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
- Enter your 13-digit South African ID number
- Enter the phone number you used when applying
- Click submit — your status shows in seconds
- If status is Approved, scroll down to see your payment date and method
You can also check without data:
- Dial *120*69277# from your registered SIM (free on all networks)
- WhatsApp 082 046 8553 and type "status"
- Call the toll-free line: 0800 60 10 11
If your status still shows pending, your payment date is not assigned yet. The date only appears once SASSA moves your status to approved. Do a SASSA status check daily from the 15th of the month onwards to catch the update early.
What to Do If Your Payment Is Late
If your status shows approved but the money has not arrived, follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Check that it is past your batch date
SRD payments release in batches from the 24th to 31st of the month. Your payment date is in the portal — do not expect money before that date. Older Persons, Disability, and Children's grants have specific dates (see the table above). A payment is only "late" if it has not arrived 48 hours after your confirmed batch date.
Step 2: Verify your banking details are correct
Log into the portal and check your banking details. If they show "Bank Details Pending" or "Bank verification failed", update them immediately. Payments route to your old bank if you switched accounts without updating. Submit new details before the 15th of each month to catch the current batch.
Step 3: Check for a declined status
Sometimes a payment that was approved in a previous month gets declined in the current cycle due to a fresh means test. If your status now shows declined, read the reason code and submit a reconsideration appeal within 90 days at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/appeals. See our SASSA SRD appeal guide for the step-by-step process.
Step 4: Contact SASSA directly
If steps 1–3 do not resolve the issue, contact SASSA through these channels. See the full SASSA contact details page for regional numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the SASSA payment dates for July 2026?
In July 2026, SASSA pays Older Persons on Thursday 2 July, Disability grant on Friday 3 July, and Children's grants (Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency) on Monday 6 July. The SRD R370 grant pays in batches from 24 to 31 July 2026. Your exact SRD batch date shows in the portal once your status is approved.
When does SASSA pay the SRD R370 in August 2026?
The SRD R370 August 2026 payment window is 25 to 30 August. Payments release in ID-number batches across those days. Permanent grants (Older Persons, Disability, Children's) pay on 4, 5, and 6 August respectively. Check your status at srd.sassa.gov.za from the 20th of August to see your assigned batch date.
Do SASSA payment dates change every year?
Yes. SASSA announces new payment dates through an official media statement at the start of each year. The dates change based on the calendar — weekends and public holidays push payments to the next working day. The SRD batch windows stay roughly the same (last week of each month), but the exact days shift. Bookmark this page or check sassa.gov.za for each year's official announcement.
What happens if my SASSA payment date falls on a public holiday?
SASSA moves the payment to the next working day if the official date falls on a public holiday. For example, if payment day lands on Heritage Day (24 September), SASSA pays on 25 September instead. This applies to all permanent grant types. SRD batch windows are wide enough (7 days) that holidays rarely cause full-batch delays.
Can I collect my SASSA grant early?
No. You cannot collect your SASSA grant before the official payment date. ATMs and retailers only release your funds after SASSA initiates the batch transfer on your assigned date. Arriving early at a Postbank or retail payment point on the day before your date will show no funds available. Only return on or after your specific payment date shown in the portal.
How do I find my SRD payment date for my ID number?
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status, enter your ID number and registered phone number, and submit. If your status is approved, the portal shows your payment date and payment method. You can also dial *120*69277# (free) for a quick status check without data. The payment date is unique to your ID — no generic list covers all ID numbers.
Why did my SASSA payment date disappear from the portal?
Payment dates disappear when your status moves from approved to a new cycle's pending state. SASSA runs a fresh means test every month. If the current month's check has not completed yet, the date field goes blank until the new approval is confirmed. Check again after the 20th of the month — the date for the current batch will reappear once the means test passes.
Is the SASSA SRD R370 grant continuing in 2026?
Yes. The SRD R370 grant continues through the 2026/27 financial year, confirmed by the Department of Social Development. The grant amount remains R370 per month. The next budget review is March 2027. Beneficiaries must reapply every 12 months and pass the monthly means test (income below R624) to keep receiving payment.
