SASSA Status Declined

SASSA status declined? Are you facing a rejection for your SRD R370 payment? Come in and read this easy-to-fix guide carefully.

I still remember my first experience back in 2021 when I got the SASSA SRD application decline status. It was a very upsetting moment for me. I was raising 2 babies and COVID-19 made me unemployed already.

But, I was still eligible for the SRD R350 payment at that time. I doubt if the SASSA system has made some mistakes and that’s why my grant payment is declined for this month. So I started to make contacts with the SASSA support team and finally I fixed the problem. Keep reading this article if you are also facing the same issue and want to fix it.

Why Did SASSA Decline a R370 Grant Payment Application?

One thing you need to keep in your mind is that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has the right to decline any application. However, the agency is very fair to its applicants. Then why did you get this declined status? Well, you could be ineligible for the grant.

Here are the reasons that can cause a declined application status:

Employed or Business Person: SASSA has clearly said that we are offering R370 payment to those who are unemployed and suffered from the COVID-19 disaster. So if you are doing a job or business, then your application will be declined for sure.

Bank Statement Exceeds R624 Per Month: SASSA has a term for applicants that they can not be earning more than R624 per month. So if you are earning more than R624 then you are already disqualified for this grant.

Receiving Other Government Grants: SRD applicants are not allowed to receive the other government allowances or grants. If you are a beneficiary of any of the other government grants, then your application will be terminated as declined status.

Pensioner: Are you a retired government employee? Do you receive a pension? Well then you are not approved for the R370 grant payment.

Age Limit: SASSA approves the grant only for those who are younger than 18 years old and not more than 59 years old. If you fall outside of this age limit, then you are not approved.

How to Fix SASSA Status Check Declined?

There is only one way to fix the declined status for SRD grant application and it is the appeal application submission. You need to appeal to the Department of Social Development for your SRD grant declined status.

However, you need to make sure you are eligible for the SRD R370 payment and you get the decline status only due to an error or system mistake.

  3. Now click on the “Click here to lodge an appeal” button.

How Long Do you Wait for a SASSA Appeal to Approve?

You should wait at least 90 days before you apply for another appeal application. SASSA has to deal with millions of applications each day and this can delay the appeal approval. However, you need to keep checking your SASSA appeal status and stay updated with your grant.

What is the Meaning of Alternative Income Source Identified?

This status code is a common reason for SASSA application rejections. It means the applicant has another source of income. This income could come from a job, business, or other regular earnings. SASSA grants help people who are unemployed and have no financial support. If the system detects any income, it declines the application. The applicant does not qualify for aid because they are not fully dependent on SASSA. If this decision seems wrong, the applicant can request a review. They should provide proof of their financial situation to confirm their eligibility.

How to Fix Alternative Income Source Identified?

To resolve this issue, you need to submit an appeal. Follow the appeal process as explained earlier. However, this is a serious reason for rejection. If you are actually receiving a salary or business income, your appeal will also be declined. SASSA grants are only for those with no income.

If you believe the decision is wrong, provide clear proof of your financial situation. Bank statements or other documents showing you have no regular income may help. Make sure all your information is correct before submitting the appeal.

Final Thoughts

You will be relaxed to hear that once you get a declined status you have an option to request for a second chance. In this way, you can appeal for the original decision and get the payment from SASSA. So submit your appeal application and see if you are eligible for the R370 payment.
